Chorley were back in league action with a local derby against P.N.E. Within a minute Chorley had taken the lead when a lofted pass from Kerry Bergin confused the Preston defense and allowed Vicky Coope to slot the ball home. Chorley didn’t take their foot off the gas and Coope added her second when a rebounded shot fell to her and she smashed the ball into the bottom corner. Preston managed to snatch an equaliser just before half-time when their striker pressured Chorley Keeper, Nic Freeman and bundled the ball home. Chorley were disappointed to conceed and left the pitch frustrated at half time.
Stern words were exchanged at half time and Chorley came out to attack the game. However, it was the Chorley defence that was called upon to steady the team with Janet Dawson and Ali O’Donnell making a number of outstanding tackles. Towards the end of the game Preston began to tire and in the 80th minute Coope played a one-two with Natalie Parry before bending the ball with the outside of her foot past the Preston keeper. Coope added the icing on the cake of her birthday weekend with her fourth goal of the game a minute later. Danni Toward intercepted the ball in midfield and played a ball over the Preston defence, which Coope hit first time and lobbed the keeper. Chorley play away next Sunday against Denton Town.
